No wiring. The built-in solar panel charges a rechargeable battery during the day and the light switches on automatically at dusk.

How long does it stay on?

Run time depends on how much direct sun the panel gets. A full sunny day gives the longest run time; cloudy days give less.

Is it waterproof?

It is built for outdoor use in rain. Avoid placing it where it will sit under water.
